The first part of the series contains a reproduction of a map of the British Empire in America with the French and Spanish settlements adjacent thereto, by Henry Popple, 1733. This is presented in 21 sheets plus a cover sheet and an introduction by Helen Wallis, Superintendent of the Map Room, British Library and William P Cumming, author of Southeast in Early Maps: 1958.
The area covered is from 5 deg N to 55 deg N and from 47 deg W to 107 deg W, at a scale of 50 miles to one inch (with inset maps and plans at a larger scale).
The map is sold in loose sheet format only. The assembled map will cover 92 inches wide by 94 inches high.
