A Plan of the Cities of London, Westminster & Southwark with contiguous buildings
This most popular map was engraved by John Pine, Bluemantle Pursuivant at Arms and Chief Engraver of Seals to His Majesty. Introduction by James Howgego, Keeper of Prints and Pictures, Guildhall Library.
The book contains an page introduction, a key sheet and the map itself, consisting of 24 sheets in an eight wide, three high matrix. If put together with edges trimmed, it will cover an area of approximately 3.84 x 2.04 m or 12’7” x 6’8” (W x H). Note that each sheet is slightly different in size, due to the original and also differing paper shrinkage during the original printing.
