Map Author: William Hogarth

Description

A complete set of facsimiles of these famous twelve “moral and instructive” plates by William Hogarth, tracing the careers of two apprentices – one to the gallows at Tyburn and the other to the Mansion House, as Lord Mayor of London – with a cover sheet and a detailed introduction and commentary on each plate by John Fisher; packed in a fold-up card wallet.

The illustration shows the Good Apprentice being installed as the Lord Mayor of the City of London.

For the convenience of providing a single folder (which can easily be dismantled for framing), the first 10 plates have been reduced in size by 6% and the last two by 11%.

Published by Guildhall Library, London in association with Harry Margary.
