Description

A fine engraving by Henry Nicholson of ‘this wonderful animal was bred by the late John Ainsley Esq. of Otterington House near North Allerton Yorkshire and fed by Medd Scarth Esq. Carlton near Stokesley.’ The cow had the amazing dimensions: from nose to rump 11′ 3″, height at rump 6′, height at shoulder 5′ 10.5″ and girth 11′. It weighed 221 stones or about one and a third tons.
